Silvicultural technique consisting of removing, partially or completely, branches of a tree in order to maintain it in good condition or shape young trees, modify or restore its natural shape, clear structures or construction areas and clean aerial wires and networks to eliminate any danger.  All pruning work must be well planned to protect and preserve trees in good health.

The pruner works under difficult conditions and through several constraints: weather, immediate environment, safety, etc. The purpose of the Arborist Pruner being saving the tree as much as possible, the art lies in his ability to do so, taking these constraints into account.
